Fear by Kathy Merman

Fear is a psychosexual thriller that tells the story of Katie Summers. Katie is a 23-year old recent graduate from the University of Cincinnati. She is teaching 5th grade at the local elementary school. Katie has everything going for her. Moving out to a new city, making good friends, living independently doing what she loved, she was the happiest young woman in the prime of her life. And now, she was in love.

Katie met Trevor when she was at her student’s basketball game. Trevor had come to watch his nephew play and they got to talking. Soon, they started dating. Katie is ecstatic when Trevor proposes a road trip to Oregan for her upcoming summer vacation, to surprise her parents.

Meanwhile, the city is shaken by a serial killer, dubbed Cincinnati Strangler. The police have been struggling to find clues with no luck. Katie and Trevor take off for a two-week road trip, which soon turns out to be far from how Katie had imagined it.

How did it make me feel?

I loved this book. Right from the start, it proves to be a compelling page-turner. I love the way author Kathy has constructed this story; giving you just enough to keep you on the edge of your seat, throughout the book. I had goosebumps! I love how it keeps the readers invested in the characters. Not just the protagonist, or the positive characters in the story, but it compels you to ponder about the antagonist as well.
