Darkborn Messiah by Tyler Nomax
Darkborn Messiah is a supernatural spiritual thriller by Tyler Nomax.
Willian Rudned has never lacked anything in his life from materialistic point of view. Born to a wealthy family, he is married, has two kids, and has inherited a successful family business. However, he is not happy. He suffers from depression and continuously has suicidal thoughts. The state of the world relentlessly tortures him. The war, hunger, poverty, death, and suffering that are prevalent everywhere are too much for William to handle.
One day, before heading back home William decides to enjoy a cigar by a bench near the lake outside his office, where he is approached by a stunningly beautiful woman, named Milena. What started as a casual conversation quickly turns into something William couldn’t have imagined. She declares he is the one to save the world and takes him on a journey through time and space to show him the path.
How did it make me feel?
The Narrative
I love the concept of this story. It lays out the modern world’s problems in a crisp and direct manner. Even on a subject as sensitive as religion, author Nomax hasn’t sugarcoated any of it. He lays our world bare dripping with morbid reality. I love how he meticulously chronicles how things look, how things actually are, and how things could be. Really makes you think about how a small (or a big) action on your part could change the course of not only your life and your loved ones but of entire humanity.
If there’s one aspect of it that I find myself being critical of, it’s the long dialogues between Milena and William. Sometimes the dialogues ran pages and I found myself losing the track of the story. Due to this, it felt rushed. There was so much to share that Milena had to quickly offload everything on William. Which makes me wonder, how would it be if this had been a coming-of-age story? I really think that would have made this story even better for the readers.
The Characters
I think author Nomax was really successful in bringing these characters to life. Both Milena and William were shining, their personalities strong enough to cement them into the readers’ minds.
