Those Who Hunt Wolves by Harrison Taylor
Those Who Hunt Wolves is an action-thriller with a science fiction twist.
The United States government is guarding its most powerful weapon, understandably most dangerous in the hands of the wrong people. The weapon is called Blackout and it’s almost like a myth. Very few people know of its power. The government believes it’s impossible for a civilian to get their hands on the Blackout as it is heavily guarded. However, their security proves nothing in front of a super-soldier called Wolf, who steals it. There were three super-soldiers created as a part of a military experiment. However, one of them turns out to be unstable and highly dangerous. She carries out her own will and is almost impossible to tame.
The only hope that’s left for the fate of humanity, are the three former members of a top-secret group called 7721. This group was formed to protect mankind from the dark side of technological espionage. They set out to hunt the Wolf and get the Blackout before it’s too late.
How did it make me feel?
The Narrative
Those Who Hunt Wolves is undoubtedly a page-turner. I found the concept fresh and interesting. There are plenty of twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the end. The narrative takes time to build, I had a lot of questions getting into the story, especially in the first half. However, everything ties up neatly in the end. The plots gradually roll out and bring with them shocking details.
The Characters
I would have liked a little more backstory for some of the characters. I loved that the author eventually provided it for the protagonist. However, I still wanted to know a bit more, especially, regarding the super-soldiers. In my opinion, a storyline of how they came to be and why one of them turned out the way she did would have added a lot to the story.
