A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas
**May contain spoilers if you haven’t read A Court of Thorns and Roses.
A Court of Mist and Fury is second in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. Feyre is back in the Spring Court after winning over Amarantha’s brutality and freeing Tamlin and all Courts from the curse. However, this win has come at a cost.
Feyre is constantly haunted by the nightmares that bring back the torment from Under The Mountains. She is a Fae now but her heart is still human and she cannot let go of what she had done to free the Courts from Amarantha’s clutch. Tamlin is also struggling with his own demons but he doesn’t let Feyre know about them. Neither does he acknowledge the ones that Feyre is fighting. Both of them seem to have returned from Under The Mountains safely, but both are broken beyond repair.
Feyre also has the sword of a bargain she made with Rhysand hanging over her head; One week a month with him at the dreaded Night Court.
So even when Feyre has everything that she dreamt of; a curse-free Prythian, a Court gradually healing from the years of torment, and an eternity with the love of her life Tamlin, she is not as happy as she expected to be. There is something tugging at the core of her heart and she is questioning whether this is everything she wants for an eternity. Her doubts start running deeper when Lucien and Tamlin fail to understand her yearnings. As she navigates her inner darkness and her relationships in her new world, Feyre slowly realizes, not only that this world may not be for her, but also that the threats facing Prythian are far from over.
How did it make me feel?
I now officially have a fae fever, if that makes sense! Although I really enjoyed A Court of Thorns and Roses; I liked the story, the characters, the world, and everything about it, it’s A Court of Mist and Fury that completely sucked me into the faerie world.
As soon as it starts, this book just takes you into a world that is phenomenally riveting. For me, this book does a lot better job at establishing this world of faeries but that may be because this one explores a lot more physical area than it did with the first one and I think that really helped convince the readers of its authenticity. The character development is fantastic! The book is brilliant in its clarity of the structure, the sequence, the elements of surprise, and bringing both characters and places to life. An added bonus is that IT IS HOT! Whoo-hoo, boy did it make me blush!
Believe me, if you liked the first book, this is just another level of good! You are going to love it!
