The City of Mist by Carlos Ruiz Zafón

The City of Mist is a collection of stories set in Barcelona. Zafón created these extraordinary stories catering to the readers who fell in love with his Cemetery of Forgotten Books series.

The City of Mist holds eleven stories, each more mysterious and menacing than the other. A young boy dreams of creating stories for a young girl who’s stolen his heart. A girl trapped in the cage of her father’s greed. A magical tale of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra and his love. These are just some of the compelling journeys that The City of Mist takes you to.

How did it make me feel?

Every story has a powerful and magical touch of Zafón’s storytelling, which leaves you wanting more. The stories are brilliant in themselves, but the subtle pointers which I perceived while reading along made it more mysterious and dream-like. For instance, the use of the same name of the characters in the different stories, made my imagination come alive. All of the stories leave plenty of room for the reader’s imagination to take shape. And that is the single most thing I LOVED about this book.

Zafón’s writing pushes you into a mystical world and takes hold of your senses. He is definitely one of my favorite authors, and I can go on reading his works without ever getting tired.

I highly recommend The City of Mist. It is set to release on November 23, 2021, but you can pre-order it on Amazon. If you use my link to buy, I may get a small commission at NO additional cost to you! It will help me keep my blog running! 🙂 Thank you for your support!
