Far Forest Scrolls Hourglass of Destruction by Alpha Four

** May contain spoilers if you haven’t read Far Forest Scrolls Na Cearcaill. Read my spoiler-free review here.

The Knights and the squires of Liberium are headed for the Tournament of Flags, carrying hope, fear, excitement, and all sorts of emotional turmoil within each heart. However, the journey has managed to put a dent in their hopes and strengthen their fears. They find a ravaged village in their path with undeniable signs of the return of the Dark Warriors. As they advance, they’re faced with a more grueling state of affairs. They are attacked viciously by strange, magical creatures.

Against all odds, as the Knights reach The Citadel, they come to an ominous realization. Vernguard is not only facing inconceivable threats from the outside, but it is at risk of cracking from within. Na Cearcaill has indeed begun, as so has the Hourglass of Destruction.

How did it make me feel?

The Narrative

I was so excited for this book because, Book One: Far Forest Scrolls Na Cearcaill, had set me up for this one so well! Book Two feels like the start of an adventure that is only going to get better. While Na Cearcaill gets the readers acquainted with Verngauard, helps with visualizing this beautiful yet mystical world, and familiarizes the characters, Hourglass of Destruction kicks up the gear and shoots you into the precariousness of Vernguard. And that just leaves you wanting for more. And without giving you spoilers, this book ends at such a cliffhanger that my Book Three (Far Forest Scrolls Rise Above The Storm) is already on its way right now and I can’t wait!

The Characters

The relationships between the characters develop profoundly in Hourglass of Destruction. By the time you finish the book, you are deeply connected to them. I actually was a bit teary-eyed in the end. These characters are beautiful and I cannot wait to see how they evolve in the upcoming books in the series.

Would I recommend it?

Yes. Fantasy lovers, I have said this with Book One and I can definitely say after Book Two, that this is a fantasy series that you wanna give a try. It is fresh and captivating. I particularly love Hourglass of Destruction because of the strategic elements in its storytelling.
