Verity by Colleen Hoover
Verity is a psychological thriller that revolves around the lives of Lowen, Verity, and Jeremy. Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer wading through financial hardships when she is approached for a contract of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, the husband of a best-selling author Verity, approaches Lowen to complete three remaining books of the series that Verity was writing when she was injured in an accident. Verity is now brain-dead and confined to bed.
Lowen goes to Crawford house to sort through the notes and potential outlines that Verity may have prepared before her accident, to help her get started. She hopes to finish it in a day, but when she sees the volume of the work she needs to go through, she decides to spend a few days. While going through the notes, Lowen finds a manuscript, that turns out to be an autobiography that Verity was working on. Unable to suppress her curiosity, Lowen starts reading it. Little does she know, that she is diving into a spine-chilling life story of Verity. Meanwhile, she starts developing feelings for Jeremy. While she uncovers page upon page of terrifying truths, Lowen struggles between her own fear and whether to tell Jeremy the truth. But..is that all to this story?
How did it make me feel?
My heart rate while reading this book put me in the fat- burn zone, I can tell you that much! 😀 What an amazing ride this book was! It was fast-paced, extremely exciting, and a classic page-turner. In terms of reading experience, this book passed with more than flying colors.
In the retrospect, however, there were some things that I found myself questioning. I can’t tell you much without spoiling it for you but there were a few things that I didn’t feel were necessary and few more things that could have made the story even more interesting. But the amazing thing about this book is that none of those things matter when you’re reading it. It just takes you on a wild ride and will not leave you disappointed.
Highly, highly recommended! What other Colleen Hoover books have you read and would recommend? Because this was my first and I’d definitely want to explore more of her books!
